Skills Upgrading Courses
Skills Upgrading courses are part-time non-placement-tied courses provided to eligible clientele including the unemployed and in-service workers. Vocational and professional education and training straddling different industries are provided with the aim of enhancing the skills competency of practitioners and fostering their attainment of multi-dimensional skills. Non practitioners may also enrol in individual courses which provide basic knowledge of the industries. These courses aim to broaden their employment opportunities through training and facilitate their job mobility.
Characteristics
- Highly subsidised – eligible trainees can apply for course fee waiver or fee subsidies
- Encourage continuous learning – courses at different levels are available to enable trainees to improve their skills and attain professional and recognised qualifications
- Facilitate career change – equip trainees to master transferable and new vocational skills for landing on new jobs
- Market-oriented and quality-assured – courses reviewed and quality assured by veteran practitioners to ensure that they cater timely for the needs of the industries
