SME Mentorship Programme

The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) launched the “SME Mentorship Programme” to assist SMEs in strengthening the quality of human resources management. Assuming a one-on-one interactive approach, veteran practitioners volunteer to serve as mentors to share their professional advices and practical experience in manpower training and development with the SMEs.

The mentorship period of the “SME Mentorship Programme 2021” will be from January to December 2021 for 12 months.  A new feature of “Industry Connect Group” will be introduced to gather together mentors and mentees of similar industries or business nature in a group with a view to broadening their people network and facilitating exchange of practical experience.

Interested SMEs are welcome to submit application from 12 October to 30 November 2020.

 

Special Features of the Programme

  • All mentors are holding management positions in “Manpower Developers”* organisations and possess extensive knowledge and experience in the disciplines of human resources, training or corporate management

  • Mentors and mentees can customize the format and topic of exchange on regular basis

  • Mentees are free to join the “Industry Connect Group” to broaden people network and exchange of practical experience

  • Kick-off activity will be organised to build up rapport of the mentors and mentees

  • Participation in the Programme is free of charge
 

Eligibility for Application

  • Application should be made by SME holding valid Business Registration Certificates for a minimum of 1 year; and employing less than 50 persons in Hong Kong for non-manufacturing operation or less than 100 persons in Hong Kong for manufacturing operation; and
  • The applicant should be the owner or the person in charge of human resources or training of the organisation 

 

Application Procedures

  • Application period: 12 October 2020 to 30 November 2020
  • Application method: Fill in the Online Application Form and upload the valid Business Registration Certificate and submit them on and before the application deadline
  • Eligible applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis in case of the programme quota is exceeded
  • ERB reserves the right to accept or reject applications

 

Matching Arrangements

  • Preferences of the mentors and mentees will be taken into consideration in the course of matching.  Mentors and mentees will be informed of the matching results by email on or before 31 December 2020
  • Request for alternative mentors should be made in writing with supporting reasons Subject to the availability of mentors, mentee will be offered another matching opportunity

 

Kick-off Activity

The kick-off activity for the “SME Mentorship Programme 2021” will be held in January 2021.  Details will be announced later.

* The ERB launched the “ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme” (the Scheme) in 2009 to recognise organisations which demonstrate outstanding achievements in manpower training and development as “Manpower Developers” (MDs). As at August 2020, there are a total of 548 MDs straddling 30 industries.
