The ERB “Love IT‧Upgrading Scheme”
Application Deadline is extended to 31 December 2024
The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) has launched the “Love IT‧Upgrading Scheme” (the “Scheme”) since April 2024 to support members of the public in gaining new digital skills so as to remain competitive in the workplace and adapt to the digital transformation of industries. To further encourage lifelong learning and upgrading of new skills, the application deadline of the Scheme is extended to 31 December 2024. Individuals interested in learning new skills are welcome to apply.
Over 50 training courses in innovation and technology are available under the Scheme, spanning domains of “New Digital Skills” and “Technology Applications in Industries” and covering diverse skills areas such as business applications of generative AI (artificial intelligence), blockchain technology, cloud computing, data analytics, online business, building information modelling (BIM), 3D printing technology, etc. All courses under the Scheme are offered free of charge and there is no upper limit imposed on the educational attainment of trainees under the Scheme (subject to fulfillment of the entry requirements of individual courses). Interested persons may submit applications from today till 31 December 2024, and attend the courses on or before 31 March 2025. The Scheme covers designated placement-tied courses and non-placement-tied courses (including skills upgrading courses and generic skills courses). Eligible applicants can enrol in no more than two full-time placement-tied courses, and non-placement-tied courses for a total of no more than 150 hours within one year.
In the face of the digital transformation megatrend, employees who keep acquiring new knowledge and digital skills can better adapt to market changes. ERB graduate Sandy, who is a practitioner in the multi-media design field, enrolled in the “Certificate in Online Business (KOL Marketing Strategies)” course to acquire knowledge and application insights in influencer marketing. She noted that the ERB course helped her understand the characteristics of different digital platforms and relevant marketing practices, and strengthened her market awareness, which in turn inspired her creative promotional work to better meet market demands. The course instructor, Leo Chow, also noted that as more and more companies leverage digital marketing for brand promotion, the course provides trainees with essential knowledge of the latest trends and application strategies in digital marketing, thereby broadening their perspectives and enhancing their skills in marketing planning.
