ERB to resume around 80% of its courses in classroom training mode from 1 September onwards

The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) announces that ERB courses in classroom training mode will be resumed in phases and orderly manner starting from 1 September 2020 (next Tuesday) onwards. To safeguard the health of trainees, related persons and the general public, training bodies resuming classroom training must implement a host of precautionary measures in strict compliance with the health guidelines issued by ERB.

To strike a balance between safeguarding the public health and providing training to the public, in the first phase, ERB will resume courses with no or minimal human contacts, amounting to a total of 564 courses and representing about 80% of all ERB courses, of which 237 are courses under the “Love Upgrading Special Scheme 2”. Please refer to the Chinese press release for the course lists.  Meanwhile, ERB will continue the online learning arrangement with around 240 online learning courses currently in offer to support trainees who opt for distance learning.

ERB encourages training bodies to adopt smaller class setting and give priority to classes which are yet to complete due to class suspension in their resumption plan before commencing new classes. Training bodies must meet the pre-requisites for class resumption and implement a host of precautionary measures in compliance with the “Guidelines on Precautionary Measures against COVID-19”.  ERB will step up monitoring and class inspection.

Individual training bodies may adjust the class resumption arrangements with respect to their own situation and at their discretion. In case of any changes, the latest information announced by the training bodies concerned shall prevail. ERB will closely monitor the progress of the first phase of class resumption and the pandemic development, and further assess the feasibility of resuming more courses.  Announcements will be made in due course.

The ERB Siu Sai Wan office counter service and ERB hotline 182 182 (operating hours are from 9am to 6pm on Monday to Friday), “Practical Skills Training and Assessment Centre”, “ERB Service Centre”, “Smart Living” and “Smart Baby Care” will also resume normal operation on 1 September 2020.

Should trainees and members of the public have any enquiries, please contact respective training bodies direct.  For other queries, please call ERB hotline 182 182 or visit the ERB website: www.erb.org.
