ERB to partially suspend classroom training and further deploy hybrid training mode from 7 December onwards

In response to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and in line with the tightened preventive measures newly announced by the Government, the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) announces that classroom training of ERB courses with direct or close human contacts will be temporarily suspended from 7 December 2020 (next Monday) until further notice.  Other ERB courses in classroom training mode and online training courses will be conducted as usual, and more courses will deploy a hybrid mode of classroom training and online learning as applicable, with a view to increasing the flexibility of trainees in receiving training during the infection prevention period.

ERB remarks that to strike a balance between safeguarding the public health and continuously providing training services to the public, classroom training of only 174 courses with direct or close human contacts, of which 66 are also courses under the “Love Upgrading Special Scheme 2”, will be temporarily suspended and training bodies will notify the trainees concerned.  Meanwhile, more than 500 training courses without direct or close human contacts, and over 300 online training courses will remain in operation.

To safeguard the health of trainees and related persons, all training bodies running ERB courses in classroom training mode must meet and implement a host of tightened precautionary measures in strict compliance with the latest “Guidelines on Precautionary Measures against COVID-19” issued by ERB.  ERB will step up monitoring and class inspection.

Moreover, the ERB Siu Sai Wan office counter service, the “Practical Skills Training and Assessment Centre” and other support services will maintain normal operation.

ERB will closely monitor the latest development of the virus and make timely announcements in due course.  Should trainees and members of the public have any enquiries, please contact respective training bodies, call the ERB hotline 182 182 or visit the ERB website: www.erb.org.
